HOW CAN WE BEGIN TO HEAR GOD'S VOICE #5

This post will focus more on some key factors that can indicate that you are hearing from GOD. This is really for those who wish to understand in a greater measure about the day to day communication to and from GOD. This way of hearing from God is entirely different from hearing a prophetic word from God as with the Gift of Prophecy or being a Prophet.

8 Keys to Distinguishing God's Voice.

#1 SCRIPTURE
Scripture: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" (II Timothy 3:16-17). The word of God is first and foremost and as we have said in times past; every communication you believe is from God should be held to the truth of the Word of God in order to judge if such communication is from GOD.

#2 GOD PLACES A DESIRE IN YOUR HEART
Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (Psalm 37:4) GOD wants you to know that when you delight in Him, you are being greatly influenced by Him and His way begins to become your ways, thus your heart begins to have godly desires. This is another indication of hearing from God. Why? because the things you desire begin to change from evil desires to good desires, from selfish desires to selfless desires, from unrighteousness to righteousness. Your heart will begin to desire what God desires for you when you delight in Him.

#3 RECEIVING A PROPHETIC WORD
The Prophetic (word of knowledge, word of wisdom, personal prophecy): "Do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophetic utterances. But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good" (I Thessalonians 5:19-21). If you receive a prophetic word from a trusted vessel one with good fruit evidenced in their lives; this is one of the ways God confirms what He is saying to you. Don't listen to people who are telling you fleshly stuff, that is not God. True prophetic words always point you to a closer walk with Jesus and restores you and are always, always based in the word of God. Anything you hear that is not found in the Word of God is not spoken by God.

#4 GODLY COUNSEL
Godly counsel: "Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety" (Proverbs 11:14). Talk to people who are spiritually mature, and who believe in living according to the Word of God. God has said in His word that there is safety in a multitude of counselors. So He is saying if you aren't sure you can also seek godly counsel. Not from people who don't have good fruit coming from their lives. Discern godly people. These days, there are too many people claiming Christianity that live in a fantasy world and are bound by demonic spirits. Know them by their fruits.

#5 CONFIRMATION
Job 33:14-16 14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. 15In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; 16Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, God will confirm what He said through others and through dreams and visions. You can trust that He will not leave you without answers. He will speak more than once. He speaks in dreams and visions very often but those dreams and vision need to be weighed against the Word of God. And if there is no pattern in God's word, then the dream or vision is not from God. Know that God will never contradict His Word. God will confirm whatever He has spoken.

#6 ABIDING PEACE
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.(Philippians 4:7) God will give you an abiding peace about your decision not peace that comes and goes over the same thing you prayed about..Peace that remains because you know God is in control.

#7 TRUSTING GOD
Proverbs 3:5-6 King James Version (KJV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Trust is a vital component to hearing God's voice. You must be willing to be obedient to His word which instructs us to trust in Him. Because He is GOD all by Himself you need to understand that how He moves is not always going to be in a way you understand. He sometimes changes people's hearts towards His children and causes them to be noticed and chosen above others, this is known as the favor of God. Trusting Him means leaving the means and methodology up to God and our part then is to believe and obey. I have seen people pray about something and then worry or even try to fix it themselves. That is not trusting God. I have prayed for healing for people before who were near death and God restored them. My point is when you pray about something you need to remember who it is you are praying to and trust Him to do what He wills to do in that situation.

#8 HAVING FAITH
And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. (Mark 11:22) If we are to ever hear God we need faith, if we are to ever access the promises of God we must have faith. Too often God's children miss the very plan of God for their lives because of a lack of faith. Do you know what a lack of faith looks like? To know that, you need to know what faith looks like. Sometime people limit what they can have or do for God by looking at their own abilities. Faith is being sure of what we hope for. Faith is confidence in God and not self. People with no faith will talk themselves right out of the blessing of God and even minimize the prophetic words they receive. Your words have the power to frame your life. Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Are you speaking death to the very plan God has for your life?Your thoughts are an expression of your life. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he... Are you thinking based on your ability or God's power and grace?

Faith is a vital component to hearing God's voice. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Right back to the Word of God. It is a foolish person who expects to hear God's voice without reading God's Word.
